Original frame, canvas size 21"h X 26"w, relined.
The Grace Darling was a medium clipper ship built in 1854 by Briggs of So. Boston. Obed Baxter captained the vessel for some time, commencing in 1858. He died at sea in 1883. The painting comes through his family in So. Dennis. Captain Baxter is buried at the Congregational Church cemetary.
