- You may bring items into our gallery during office hours: please call since these vary by season.
- Photographs with descriptions, including any pertinent information, can be sent via email to info@sandwichauction.com or by mail to the attention of the Appraisal Department.
- Please be sure to include all your contact information. Our appraisers will review the material provided and you will receive a timely response. Estimates given based upon the examination of photographs alone are tentative, and may be subject to change upon first-hand examination. Consigning your items to Auction
Should you choose to consign your items to auction, this is an overview of what you can expect.
- Receipt and Consignment Agreement. Sandwich Auction House will provide you with a receipt and consignment agreement outlining the commission rate and terms of sale. Our commissions, which include insurance, photography and marketing, are very competitive and are based on the value of your items.
- In the case of valuable items, you may be asked if you wish to place a reserve price. This determines the starting bid for your item and sets the lowest price the auctioneer will accept for your item.
- Marketing. Expert cataloguing and comprehensive marketing - incorporating direct mail, print advertising, promotional events and industry-leading utilization of internet resources - ensure that your consignment will be exposed to the largest possible audience of qualified buyers. Many auctions are promoted on most major art and antiques collector's websites such as AuctionZip, Artfact, LiveAuctioneers, and Invauable.com , as well as trade publications such as the Antiques and the Arts Weekly. We also send out notices to our large client list including over 2,000 collectors and dealers from all over the U.S. and overseas. Our bidding platforms allow bidders from across the globe to participate in our auctions via internet, telephone, absentee bids or attending the auction in person.
- Sale Day. Our auctions are typically held in the evenings. Each auction has an advertised preview time for inspection of all items scheduled to sell. The sale is conducted in sequential lot numbers.
- Settlement. Proceeds are issued 4 - 14 days after the date of the auction. Net proceeds are calculated based on the hammer price less commission.
If you have any questions regarding the consignment process, please feel free to call our office and someone will be happy to answer them. 508.888.1926
